Crime Writers Conference

Saturday and Sunday, June 6 & 7, 2015
DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Los Angeles-Westside
6161 West Centinela Avenue, Culver City, California
www.conference.org

Yesterday at the CCWC in Los Angeles, I met some of the most incredible people who were willing to take the time to just talk and encourage each other.

There were seasoned writers as well as just starting out writers all attending for a common goal, to learn from each other.

Charlene Harris delivered an all-inspiring message on writing and finishing the race (you’ll never finish unless you start, so just do it), she was a hoot.

The panel rooms were awesome.

And, the food was fantastic too.

Coming Soon!

Black Opal Books Presents
                        Fanaman Curse

                                                 Piercing nails clawed Charlotte’s skin
She fought the presence that tried to take control
It scratched deep wells into her flesh
Charlotte felt as though she was trapped
in one of her nightly nightmares
                                      Without warning Charlotte stopped fighting
She had learned from those nightmares to let the demons                                                                     wash over her
She forced the lower extremities of her body to go limp
This always betrayed the demons to their own greed
When her opponent lessened its deathening grip
                                                          the opportunity came
Charlotte transferred her strength into her arms
and fought hard for her life
                                                  tossing the figure away
                                            As always, the figure vanished
                                                      as though never there
Hysterical laughter from within the Conservatory filled
                                                             Charlotte’s ears
Only the sight of her father lunging into the
                                                Conservatory eased her mind

Coming Soon Excerpts From:
                            Fanaman Curse
                                         (Black Opal Books)

The death of my little brother when we were children still haunts me. I cannot see who is coming towards me. Hands white as snow dripping icicles punctures the ground. They fall leaving blankets of bloody footprints going nowhere leading everywhere. The sounds of screaming geese off in the distance awaken me to a cold sweat, never remembering what truly happened. I fall back to sleep after many hours to be awaken once again as if drowning in the sea below. Something keeps holding me down, I cannot climb up Heavens Stairway. I scream to the woman in white who is running down the rocks. She does not see me. She plunges headfirst into the black abyss. Never screaming—just quiet. Mother says my brother death was an accident, but no one will tell me…

I haven't forgotten you!

No, I haven't forgotten you. I've been super busy. But, that's not a good excuse. Here's something that might tie you over. I'm working on non-fiction/fiction and the interweaving of culture. Let me know your reaction.

Past-Halloween

Good Nites (zombies)

Bloody gurgling nights
dawn approaches as I feed
who says day is good

If I didn’t do it
who else strolls
thru-out the night

I saw you there
watching
fire blazing

Book Review: Angel's Ink

Jocelynn Drake: Angel’s Ink

The idea of warlocks, witches, elves, trolls, minotaur, centaurs, werewolves, and other woodland creatures walking among the 21st Century neighborhoods is fantastic.

Ms. Drake writes in the sagacity as one ranked in the league of fairy-tales weaved with reality that opens one’s mind to possibilities that the tattoo world was one of amazement as well as great potion.

Gage, the main attraction even though human breaks bonds and becomes part of the Olympians with warlock powers—which he later regrets.

Leaving the Magical Ivory Tower was harder than anyone thought it would be and tried to live among others who shielded themselves under the pretense of human form.

This is a Buyer Beware…a trio to be reckoned with.

Book Review

Maggie Sefton: Deadly Politics
Ms. Sefton tone comes out in this diabolical account of Capitol Hill and many of its diversions that the common people have no idea what really happens—when Power and Money mixes.

Molly Malone once the voice of reasoning during her husband stay in political office and well loved returns to the Hill and its concrete—after many years of avoiding the scandals, the back-stabbings and her own personal heartbreak.

She witnesses this heartbreak once again when her niece is murdered after admitting that she was having an affair with a congressional chief of staff that ruin her career as well as his.

This is a fast moving, motivated novel with the political angle imbedded deeper than this story revealed—with mysterious encounters of future villains of Raynard and Spiner.

One of Sefton’s best with hopes that there will be sequels to the unanswered.

I've completed the first two short novel (18,700 and 24,000 word count) of amateur sleuth Agatha-Josephine Friday Noonsday.

First of the series: Amateur sleuth Agatha-Josephine Friday Noonsday.
Gumbo A: Death in the Cellar

Second of the series: Agatha Josephine Friday Noonsday Amateur Sleuth
Gumbo B: Death at Everett Bridge
The third of the series I'm currently working on and have outlined the fourth in the series.

I have not submitted any of these as of date, I'm still waiting for the Mistress of Fanaman to be published.
